Julie Friend, LCSW, BCD is the Program Chair and a Faculty member of the Psychoanalytic Couple Psychotherapy Group’s Intensive Study Program in psychoanalytic psychotherapy with couples. She has served on the teaching and/or supervisory faculty at California Pacific Medical Center, Access Institute, The Psychotherapy Institute, and the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SF-CP) yearlong extension program. She has published in Couple and Family Psychoanalysis, Fort Da, and Viewpoint, and has presented her paper “Love as Creative Illusion and Its Place in Psychoanalytic Couple Psychotherapy” at the Tavistock Center for Couple Relationships in London, the New Center for Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, and at SF-CP. She is a member of Section VIII of Division 39 of the American Psychological Association and a member of the British Society of Couple Psychotherapists and Counselors. She has a private practice including individuals, couples, and consultation in Berkeley, California.
