This two-session course (5 CEUs) provides fundamental theoretical concepts of couple psychoanalytic psychotherapy in the Tavistock model. Particular focus will be on the unconscious choice of partner, unconscious beliefs, the couple state of mind, and projective identification and how it may be used among couples. This course will be helpful to the psychoanalyst and the psychoanalytic psychotherapist who works with individuals and couples.

 

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify unconscious beliefs
  2. Discuss and explore concepts such as couple state of mind, the internal couple, and projective identification
  3. Recognize projection and projective identification in a couple relationship
